La Artesanía de Autor® vuelve a Hondón de las Nieves El 11 y 12 de agosto se montará en Hondón de las Nieves por quinta vez una auténtica Feria de Artesanía de Autor®. Se esperan entre veinte y treinta artesanos que montarán sus puestos en el centro urbano, no sólo para vender sus creaciones, pero también trabajando en sus puestos, para que el público pueda observar la destreza y la paciencia con las que hacen sus cosas, preguntar explicaciones de técnicas o herramientas e, incluso, encargar cosas especiales. Algunos trabajarán el cuero, la madera o el papel, otros están pintando, grabando cristal, haciendo macramé o joyería y el alfarero invitará a los visitantes a hacer su propio cuenco de barro en el torno. Todos quieren compartir con los visitantes el cariño que tienen por su oficio. Además habrá talleres para niños y algunos puestos con productos tradicionales, como el de Felipe, el maestro confitero que nos enseña cómo se hace la especialidad valenciana de arrop i tallaetes y vende su pan de higo y mermeladas. Los jóvenes del pueblo montan una barra y hay una gran participación local de artistas y aficionados de la artesanía. Y un malabarista/zancudo animará la feria con sus piruetas y terminará las dos noches con un espectáculo de fuego. La organización de la feria está otra vez en manos de la asociación Amata. No es fácil para los artesanos vivir de su oficio, sobre todo cuando tienen que competir con productos importados de otros países. Por eso Amata exige de todos los participantes, que sólo vendan productos hechos a mano por ellos mismos, y anuncia sus ferias con las palabras Artesanía de Autor® para garantizar que el autor de los productos esté en el puesto. Y se nota el resultado: en los años que esta feria está organizada por Amata, ha ganado la fama de ofrecer al público la oportunidad de conseguir piezas únicas directamente del autor, a precio justo para ambos. Este año la feria coincide con las fiestas patronales de la Virgen de las Nieves. Estas fiestas se celebran cada dos años, porque Hondón comparte su patrona con el pueblo vecino de Aspe y por eso alternan la fiesta. El sábado por la noche, al final de la feria, habrá el famoso Correfocs que suele atraer a tanta gente a Hondón. Diablos y otros personajes fantásticos recorrerán las calles del pueblo el sábado a medianoche, acompañados por una espectacular carroza con música y fuegos artificiales. Sin embargo, la feria abre en momentos más tranquilos: el viernes 11 y sábado 12 de agosto de las 7 de la tarde hasta medianoche. Between twenty and thirty craft people are expected and not only will they show (and sell) what they have made, you can also watch most of them at work, ask questions on techniques, tools and materials, and quite a few speak some English. There will be people working with leather, wood and paper, people modelling clay, painting or making macramé and jewelry,and the potter invites everybody to turn their own little bowl on his wheel. All people who love their work and want you to share the pleasure. There will also be workshops for children and a few stalls with traditional delicacies: Felipe sells pan de higos, made of dried figs and almonds and will show you how arrop i tallaetes is made, a Valencian speciality made of grape syrup and pieces of pumpkin. You can try Arab food and delicacies in the tea tent or have a sweet or savoury pancake made while you watch. Quite a few local people participate in the fair and a group of local youngsters runs a tavern. And a talented juggler will jump around on stilts, make jokes with the public and close the fair both evenings with a fire show. The fair is organised by Amata, the regional craft association that has spent the last 20 years organising the few real craft markets to be found in this part of Spain. It's not easy to make a living in this fashion, when there is so much competition from people selling mainly imported goods, but it can be done. That's why Amata insists on that everything on the stalls has to be made by hand and by the person actually on the stall. And it works: in the years that Amata is organising this fair, it got to be known as the place to go when you are looking for original work and want to buy it directly from the author (and thus for a reasonable price). This year the fair is held during the fiestas of the Virgen de las Nieves, which are held every other year, because Hondón shares its patron saint with the nabouring village Aspe. On Saturday, at the end of the fair, the famous Correfocs (literally: Fire run) is held - at midnight a group of people, dressed as devils and other fantastic caracters will run, jump and dance around a big float that drives slowly through the streets of the village, while setting off all sorts of fireworks, a spectacular - and above all a noisy - event that attracts hordes of people to the village. The Craft Fair will be held on quieter moments: it starts on both Friday 11 and Saturday 12 August at 7 pm and stays open till midnight. Hondón lies not far from Elche, Crevillente and Novelda; to get there from further away, take the exit "Aspe" on the A7 (South of Alicante) or A31 (Alicante-Madrid) and in Aspe itself follow the signs for Crevillente and Hondón de las Nieves. Er worden zo'n twintig tot dertig "artesanos" verwacht die hun werk komen uitstallen (en verkopen!) en de meesten van hun zullen naast hun kraam een werkbank of -tafel neerzetten om voor de ogen van het publiek te gaan zitten werken. De een werkt met leer, hout of papier, de ander schildert, boetseert of maakt juwelen van macramé of aardewerk en de pottenbakker nodigt het publiek uit om zèlf een vaasje of kommetje te "draaien". Allemaal houden ze van hun werk en willen het publiek laten delen in hun plezier. Er zijn workshops voor kinderen (van alle leeftijden!) en enkele stalletjes met zoete lekkernijen. Zo verkoopt Felipe pan de higos (lett. vijgebrood: opeengeperste gedroogde vrijgen met anijs en amandelen) en laat zien hoe de valenciaanse specialiteit "arrop i tallaetes" wordt gemaakt van druivensiroop en stukjes kalebas. Er is een theetent met arabische specialiteiten en Jorge bakt zoete of hartige flensjes waar u bijstaat. Er is aardig wat medewerking en deelname van de plaatselijke bevolking, en niet alleen op het kreatieve vlak: een groep jongeren runt een gezellige en professionele taveerne. En een veelzijdige jongleur verlevendigt de markt met zijn capriolen op stelten en een grote vuurshow aan het eind van de twee avonden. De markt wordt georganizeerd door Amata, een kunstenaarsvereniging die zich al zo'n twintig jaar bezighoudt met het organizeren van kunstmarkten. Iedereeen die mee wil doen, mag alléén echt handwerk verkopen en de "auteur" moet zélf naar de markt komen. Het valt niet mee om op die manier aan de kost te komen, met alle konkurrentie die er is van goedkope importprodukten, maar Amata bewijst dat het kán. En de markt in Hondón heeft inmiddels de faam opgebouwd, dat je daar origineel werk kunt kopen voor heel redelijke prijzen, omdat je direkt van de auteur koopt. Dit jaar wordt de markt tijdens de patroonsfeesten van de Virgen de las Nieves gehouden. Dat feest wordt om het andere jaar gevierd, omdat Hondón zijn patroonheilige deelt met het buurdorp Aspe. Op zaterdagavond, na afsluiting van de markt, wordt de beroemde Correfocs gehouden - dat is letterlijk een vuurloop. Om middernacht rennen, lopen en dansen allerlei mensen verkleed als duivels of andere fantasie-figuren door de straten, rondom een bizarre praalwagen, onderwijl allerlei knallend, sissend en gillend vuurwerk afstekend. Een spektakulair en vooral luidruchtig gebeuren dat elk jaar honderden mensen naar Hondón trekt. Gelukkig speelt de Kunstmarkt zich af op rustiger uren: hij is op vrijdag 11 en zaterdag 12 augustus open vanaf 7 uur 's avonds tot middernacht en is opgebouwd in het dorpscentrum, waar ook allerlei gezellige terrasjes zijn. Hondon de las Nieves ligt niet ver van Elche, Crevillente en Novelda.
